Yet Another Special Ability I Have

Well, I was looking through my posts today and noticed my post titled "New Special Ability I Have".  I am thinking of making a whole custom character of Yoda with all these special abilities representing his confusing-ness.  So here's another special ability.

Lengthy Riddles (Replaces attacks, an enemy character within 2 squares must move at least 24 squares away from where they are now before they can attack, use special abilities, or use force powers, save 6)

"Get this one I do not, either!  Now just feeling left out, I am!"

Simple Star Wars RPG System (SSWRPGS)

So after various tries, I have developed a experimental version of a simple star wars based RPG, or role playing game: Simple Star Wars RPG System (SSWRPGS).  I have not written an actual rule book yet, so I will just give you a summary of the rules in this post.

You have to choose a GM, or game master, who will control NPCs and enemies, as well as direct the story and guide the players.

The rest of the people are players.  Use the following steps to create a player.
  1. Print out a character sheet here.
  2. Come up with a name and race.  A good star wars name generator is here.
  3. Choose a class there are currently 3 classes: Jedi, Sith, and Soldier.
  4. Fill in this, and all other information other than above, with pencil. Write 1 for the level and the following stats: HP: 10, DEF: 4, ATK: 2, DAM: 0
  5. Use the 10 Skill Points to upgrade your defense and attack. 1 skill point equals one point of attack or defense.
  6. I also recommend starting with a certain amount of credits in your inventory.  500 credits is something to start with.
The attack and defense rules are similar to Star Wars Minis.  Hit Points represent your health and damage determines how many HP are reduced when the attack is successful.  But instead of rolling a d20 for attack, you roll a d6, a regular dice.

Combat turns go like the following.  The player team makes an save of 4.  On a success, they go first.  They activate one character.  The NPC enemies they are in combat with activate a single character or multiple characters.  This depends on the GM's decisions entirely.  To activate a character is to move it its speed, 12 meters unless said otherwise and attack, or vice versa.  The character can move 24 meters if they do not attack.

A character levels up when it has a certain amount of XP, or experience points.  They then get a number of skill points to advance their character, be it improving stats or gaining feats, special abilities that improve your character.

Here's a couple of rules for classes.  Jedi and Sith are required to take the Force Sensitive feat when they create their character, although other classes may take it.  Soldiers are required to take Double Attack.  These feats do cost skill points, but must be taken.  I may and hopefully will add more classes later, but this is what I have for now.

Pretty much everything else is for the players and GM to figure out.  If you have any ideas or suggestions just comment on this post.  I have here a list of some feats and items to start with, but feel free to come up with new ones, and even comment them so I can post them on here.  Some, like Deception are assuming that you use rules that can be seen by reading the feat.  Also, definitions of words like deceive are totally up to the GM.  Now please note that you should probably stay near to the true definition of the word you are working with.  You may have noticed that some of the feats, say Stealth, aren't dealt with in combat.  Some of these may be used while you are just playing, not while you are actually fighting.

Feats:
Double Attack - 2 skill points; make attack twice if you don't move in your turn
Force Sensitive - 1 skill point; may reroll an attack one every time you activate
Force Choke - 2 skill points; 10 damage to a character you can see within 12 meters, save 4, requires Force Sensitive
Force Push - 2 skill points; move character back 12 meters, requires Force Sensitive
Deception - 1 skill point; make a save of 3, not of 4, to deceive someone
Stealth - 1 skill point; makes a save of 3, not of 4, to avoid detection
Sniper - 1 skill point; may attack from a range of 32

Items:
Blaster Rifle - 10 damage, range 24,
Blaster Pistol - 10 damage, range 20
Lightsaber - +10 damage, melee
Glowrod - Illuminates 10 meters around this character with light

Star Wars - Clone Assault Stop Motion

I have officially released my first Star Wars action figure stop motion animation movie onto YouTube.  It is called Clone Assault, and about two elite clone soldiers attacking and destroying a separatist base.  Comment, like, subscribe, whatever.  So here's the video.  Hope you like it.

Custom Tutorial 5: Clone Trooper Pilot Hawk

Time for today's last star wars miniature custom tutorial: Clone Trooper Pilot Hawk!  I wanted to do something to one of my two GaW clone trooper pilots, so why not give one Hawk's awesome custom helmet.

Hawk custom helmet.jpg

For this custom you will need GaW #20 Clone Trooper Pilot.

Paint the helmet blue like above.

To finish it, paint the red hawks on either side of it.  Mine were just little red blotches, but they turned out okay.

There you go, you now are the owner of the brand new Clone Trooper Pilot Hawk custom miniature.  I might make a card for this one as well.

Custom Tutorial 4: Admiral Ackbar

For my next custom tutorial I present to you Admiral Ackbar.  I've seen this one done lots of times in other places, so no credit to me on this one.

For this custom you will need white and black acrylic paints, a hobby knife, super glue, and a RS #53 Mon Calamari Mercenary.

First, cut off his blaster.  Try to keep this part if you can.  It might turn out being useful.  I lost mine, but you should try not to.

Then, cut off his right blaster arm at the shoulder.

Trim the arm so that you can reconnect it looking like he has his hand on his hip.  Glue in place.

Paint his outfit white.

Paint his belt and boots black.  You can do some touch-up painting after that, but you don't have to.  Just a hint, for smaller paint applications, try using a toothpick as a paintbrush.

There you go.  A completed Admiral Ackbar custom miniature.  Here's a card for the Universe Ackbar, but I might try to make my own and post it, too.

Custom Tutorial 3: Modded Clone Trooper

Well, today was a very productive day.  I made 3 custom minis, all of which have custom tutorials.  This one is a clone trooper that is supposed to look like it is looking around a corner.

For this custom you will need RotS #8 Clone Trooper Miniature, as well as an hobby knife and super glue.

You need to cut off its helmet and its gun arm at the elbow.

Glue the head on like he is looking over his left shoulder.  You may need to trim either the head or the neck in order for the head to fit back on right.

Then, glue the arm up at an angle.  This too required a little bit of trimming so that the angles would work out.

Congratulations, you have completed your modded clone trooper miniature.  I might end up making a stat card for a 312th Battalion Trooper or something like that.

Some Good and Bad News

Well I am going to have to announce the cancellation/postponement of the Dusk of the Republic Set.  I need to work on costing and make better quality cards.  On a brighter note, I have made two new cards: Pre Vizsla, Death Watch Leader and Death Watch Assassin.  These are two of the Mandalorians who appear in the animated Clone Wars TV series.  I have yet to play test them, but when I do I will post any tweak or maybe, just maybe, some squad recommendations.  They are Mandalorian with Separatist affinity.  The assassin pic was cut out in paint so it is not as good as the Vizsla one, but who cares.

Where to Buy Minis

If you are looking to start collecting star wars minis, but can't find anywhere to buy them, this will show you just a few places where you can.   Whenever I want to get a booster pack, I get it from my local target.  They are usally around where other trading cards are.  I'm pretty sure that some Barnes and Nobles have them too.  If you want singles, or can't find these in any stores, here are two online links.  The first is Miniature Market.  I have ordered singles from them several times.  They have messed up orders, but they always fix them very politely.  Figures come in plastic and no plastic.  The second is Troll and Toad.  I have not ordered anything from here, but it seems to have considerably lower prices on lots of minis, compared to Miniature Market.  To start out, I recommend getting a starter set, clone wars or the 2007 starter.  You can buy singles and/or boosters from there.

New YouTube Channel!

Hi, Guys.  I just got my new YouTube channel, which I will post a bunch of nerf war videos on, as well as any star wars figure reviews.  Here is a link to my new channel.  Feel free to comment on any of my videos.

New Comic Book!

I went to the Mall of America in Minneapolis last weekend and I bought a new comic book.  Legacy: War #6!

As far as I know, it is the most recent (chronologically in the star wars universe) comic book release.  I won't tell you what happens, but I just want to say it is pretty good.  It is really (other than free comic book day 2009, which came in the mail one day for no apparent reason, not that I'm complaining) my first Star Wars comic book.  I knew the background on some characters, so this was pretty fun, you know, seeing how everything ended.  I highly recommend it, previous knowledge or not.

Brick Bang Blog

My friend Jake has started a blog for a LEGO podcast we are going to try to start up.  Here's just a link to try to promote his site.  Here you go.

Custom Mini: Polis Massan Sith Assassain

The Polis Massa Medic.  Nobody likes the polis massa medic.  So why not just convert it to a SITH ASSASSIN.  Here is the starting mini:

Then I repainted it, chopped the medicine off, (tried) to do a little bit of repositioning, and added a modified red lightsaber.  I tried to use the red and black to give it a sith-ish feel.  I thought about adding tattoos, but decided not to.

I'm going to play him as an Elite Sith Assassin from Dark Times.  I just thought it was a cool piece, and I can't wait to use steal force.  They should make a character in one of the v-sets with a special ability called transfer force and steal force.  That way they could get force from energy, then give it to the powerful sith.  Anyways, here's the card.  I did edit the picture a little to get some of the problems off of it for a professional-looking card.

Dusk of the Republic Preview #1

50th POST!!!!! Anyways, here is my first preview for my custom star wars miniatures set: Dusk of the Republic.  I know you already have the set list but here are the first three cards I have made for the set.

Chi Cho is just a re-card of my Chi Cho from the "Conflict on Orto Plutonia" mini-set.  I picked the recommended mini (Thrawn (Mitth'raw'nuruodo)) because it it chiss.  Chiss are the closest thing in minis to Pantorans.  I chose Thrawn in specific because he is not as useful as Grand Admiral Thrawn (as his switching ally positions CE is what makes him famous) so, as v-sets are used often to bring new use to old characters.

I made this character for two reasons.  Commander Bly is an important clone trooper in the clone wars (okay, not really) and the the Clone Trooper Commander is too perfect of a fit not to take advantage of.  Macrobinoculars was an ability I saw somewhere and liked, so, as Bly is always wearing macrobinoculars, I found it fitting.

Almost every Jedi in the clone wars is a general.  It is only fitting to have a jedi general card.  I used the jedi knight from RotS, because I thought it was a good generic jedi.  CE to represent the general aspect of it.

Dusk of the Republic Set List (Revised)

Dusk of the Republic Custom Set

I am going to try to make one huge clone wars-based star wars miniatures set, combining some of my characters from previous sets (with some minor edits), and adding new ones, called Dusk of the Republic.  I might try to get a wizards forum account and post my cards and minis on there, and try to get some costs for my cards.  Otherwise they are kind of useless.  I will add and cut out of bunch of them (probably from Conflict on Orto Plutonia) later.  Here's my set list I'm working out, not in the right order, of course.

    Phantom Menace Stats

I'm on vacation, so I don't have the resources to make the cards, but I did come up with some star wars miniatures stats based on Episode I: The Phantom Menace.

    Anakin Skywalker, The Chosen One

    Faction: fringe
    HP:50
    DEF:15
    ATT:8
    DAM:20

    Unique
    Podracer Pilot
Synergy (+6 attack when shmi skywalker is within 6 squares)
    Quick Reactions

    Force 3
Force Dodge (Force 1, takes no damage from an enemy's attack, save 11)

I gave him force dodge and quick reactions to represent his using the force through the means that he did.  As a little boy, I thought he should get synergy with his mother, because it only makes sense.

    Shmi Skywalker

    Faction: fringe
    HP:50
    DEF:15
    ATT:8
    DAM:20

    Unique
I'm So Proud Of You, Annie (when this character is destroyed an allied Anakin Skywalker gains +10 damage and bloodthirsty)

I had to make a Shmi after my Anakin, so I decided to give her a quote special ability.  I know its from Episode II, but it was the only good quote.

    The Apprentice

    Faction: sith
    HP:120
    DEF:21
    ATT:13
    DAM:20

    Unique (counts as darth maul)
Affinity (may be on a separatist squad)
    Melee attack, double attack

    Force 4
    Force Renewal 1
    Lightsaber Block
    Lightsaber Sweep
    Sith Hatred

Just another Darth Maul with a cooler name.  I got the idea from the fact that at the end of the Phantom Menace, at Jinn's funeral, Yoda and Windu refer to the sith as the "Master and the Apprentice."

    The Master

    Faction: sith
    HP:90
    DEF:23
    ATT:0
    DAM:0

    Unique (counts as darth sidious)
Affinity (may be on a separatist squad)
This is my apprentice (if you roll 20 for initiative, you may add 50 points of unique force-using sith)

    Force 5
    Force Renewal 2
    Master of the Force 2
    Force Lightning 5
    Force Lighning 4
    Force Lightning 3

Same reason for this as the last one.  I decided to represent him without his lightsaber, just force lightning.
    Supreme Chancellor Valorum

    Faction: republic
    HP:40
    DEF:15
    ATT:5
    DAM:10

    Unique
    Diplomat
Negotiations (this character may make a save of 11, on sucess decline 10 damage from an enemy attack, but you must subtract 10 damage from your next attack on that enemy)

    Followers with diplomat gain negotiations.
A necessary one for this topic.  I thought the negotiations thing would be an interesting touch: give you opponent life in order to save yourself.

    Sebulba

    Faction: fringe
    HP:30
    DEF:16
    ATT:13
    DAM:0

    Podracer Pilot
Sabotage (deal 20 damage to an allied character with mounted weapon, save 11)

    Allied podracer pilots gain sabotage

Wouldn't be episode I without sebulba.  I gave him sabotage to represent when he sabotaged Anakin's podracer.  Commander Effect to share his new special ability.

    Podracer Pilot

    Faction: fringe
    HP:20
    DEF:13
    ATT:5
    DAM:10

Something for Sebulba to influence, as well as my first non-unique.

    Podracer
    Base: Huge

    Faction: fringe
    HP:70
    DEF:20
    ATT:0
    DAM:0

    Mounted Weapon
    Mount
    Speed 12
Open cockpit (mounted character can attack and use special abilities while mounted)

With all my podracer pilots, I needed a podracer.  Mount to represent the fact that people ride in it.  Open cockpit so podracer pilots could use sabotage or attack your opponents podracer.

I plan on making more: senators, neimoidians, jedi, ect.  I want to make a yoda named Yoda, Cryptic Grandmaster.  Just wait to see what that turns out like.

    Custom Scout Trooper Miniature

My younger brother decided to make me a custom star wars miniature.  It was a surprise, but I figured it out pretty quick.  He asked me what I wanted to be in star wars and, playing along, I said stormtrooper.  He asked me what type and I said scout trooper.  So he bough some minis, a rebel storm tarkin and scout trooper.  He took the head of the tarkin, repainted it, and put it on the scout trooper, then put the helmet on the ground.  I think he, at age 8, did a good job.  Here are some pics.

    Got a New Book

I'm reading Karen Traviss's Republic Commando: Hard Contact.  It's the first in a series of 5.  I am really enjoying it and highly recommend it to anyone who likes clone wars (or any star wars) novels.

    Geonosis Arena Map Pack

Everything you need to make your own Geonosis Arena.  I'm not to good at curves or diagonals for that matter.  Here is the PDF.  Just print them out and assemble them.

    Enhancement Cards? What?

On Bloomilk I found some of saber1's cards that are not characters, but enhancements.  The enhancement special ability tells you to assign this card to a character in your squad. It is not a character, just a upgrade to the character.  In this case it gives certain characters that have been equipped with this certain lightsaber styles.  Thanks saber1.  Here is the PDF.  And here are the images.

If you are going to print using the images, here are the printing instructions:  Under printer settings, change the % of normal size to 50%, then print.
